Protecting our beautiful healthlands

The wide open heathland landscapes on Cannock Chase are its most vulnerable habitats, providing homes for many rare and protected species of animals, plants and invertebrates. These habitats are designated Special Areas of Conservation (SAC).

They are so sensitive that even people visiting is accidentally causing harm. This is an increasing problem for the protected plants and animals which call the heathland their home as more people are coming each year.

To safeguard the future of Cannock Chase for everyone, we need to improve facilities such as car parks, footpaths and visitor centres as soon as possible so we can continue to enjoy the Chase without harming its nature.

We also wish to provide free environmental education and improve awareness so visitors better understand what is causing harm and the vital role they can play in protecting the Chase and keeping it special.
